About This Hotel
Suihoen
This is a Japanese lodging built on a quiet, high ground area overlooking the hot spring town of Gero. Thanks to their confidence and duty in designating themselves a kaiseki lodging, their best selling point is their cuisine.
At check-in, guests are given a handwritten copy of the day's menu.
The lodging's A5 grade (the highest grade) Hida beef and "Gin no Mikazuki" rice - a specialty rice sourced from Gero which was selected as Japan's most delicious rice - are quite delicious.
The lodging has an excellent range of facilities that include a scenic view open-air bath with a view of the nearby Mt. Nakane (also known as Gero-Fuji), 9 rooms with their own varying open-air baths, and more. It's an adult hideaway.
[Attraction 1: Monthly Changing Kaiseki Cuisine]
The pride of the lodging it its kaiseki cuisine. The cuisine is named "Yojo Kaiseki" with the hope that, as the meaning in Japanese would suggest, it would linger in guests' hearts long after the experience.
The monthly changing cuisine features seasonal and local ingredients, and a specialty cuisine prepared with Hida beef, one of Japan's most famous brands of beef. The lodging also features the wondrous Gin no Mikazuki rice, which has won the gold award at national rice contests! The rice is prepared in both pot cooked and earthenware cooked styles. (This is 1.5 times bigger than Koshihikari rice!)
The warm items are warm, and the cold items are cold, and the cuisine is prepared and served with love in each dish.
[Attraction 2: Guestrooms with Open-air Baths]
Of the total 17 guestrooms, 9 include open-air baths. Guestrooms with open-air baths allow guests to relax and enjoy their bathing experience at their own pace, whenever they like. Each guestroom with an open-air bath has its own unique atmosphere, meaning guests can request the room and bath that best fits their desires.
[Attraction 3: Steak Kangetsu]
Steak Kangetsu opened in April 2017. It features a blend of Japanese and Italian cuisine with main dishes of Hida beef. Dinner at Kangetsu can be enjoyed by guests staying at the lodging, and also as a standalone dining experience. Since its opening, the restaurant's cuisine has received many favorable reviews. Enjoy your experience at Kangetsu, the pride of this lodging.
