Since the 16th century, The Spread Eagle has hosted historic guests such as King Charles II and the writer Evelyn Waugh. Today it offers a warm welcome, excellent food and free Wi-Fi. The Spread Eagle is in the heart of historic Thame, famous for its 1-mile-long (1.6 km) Main Street. The Spread Eagle was made famous by the unusual John Fothergill, who owned the hotel in the 1920s. He wrote about this in the popular book, “An Innkeepers Diary”.
