About This Hotel

The Old Post Office Exford, Exmoor National Park

Situated right in the very centre of the beautiful Exmoor National Park in the village of Exford. Located right on the green with a newly reopened village shop, two great country Inns/restaurants along with an excellent tea room just a short walk across the green.
Exford is an excellent central location for walking, rambling, cycling and exploring the moor along with visiting the wider local area. Both Barnstaple and Taunton (25 miles away) and both Minehead and South Molton (15 miles away.)

The accommodation is situated in what was the old Exford Post Office and Stores and is both light and spacious consisting of a large living room with Freeview TV, DVD player, a two-seater leather sofa and a coffee table, a large shower room and a bedroom complete with a king-size bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers. The kitchen area has a table with two chairs, sink, combination microwave/oven, air fryer, fridge, toaster, kettle, Nespresso Coffee machine, cafetiere, and all normal kitchen utensils.
We don't supply a cooked breakfast although we normally offer a continental breakfast in the room at an additional cost of £5.00 per person. Unfortunately due to the ongoing Covid19 situation we are no longer supplying this.
Breakfast is available at the tea rooms just across the village green from 9.00 am till 4.00 pm or at either of the village pubs.

Both a folding travel cot and bath are available if required.

One well-behaved dog is welcome with a charge of £10.00 but we do not allow dogs on the furniture. A dog blanket, towel, and bowl are provided if required.
Parking is normally available right outside the property with a large free public car park about 100 yards away.

Due to coronavirus, we’re taking extra steps to clean and sanitise all hard surfaces and frequently touched surfaces between reservations.

The accommodation has its own entrance door directly off the front garden to allow guests to come and go as they please without any restrictions or contact. A small patio table and two chairs are just outside the front door where you can relax in the sunshine.

We are normally around and are quite happy to advise and help you make the most from your visit to Exmoor.
We have a large selection of walking and cycling maps of the area along with various booklets that you are welcome to use during your stay. We also have a large selection of books about Exmoor you are welcome to read on request.

This is an extract from the Exmoor National Park website which sums up Exmoor perfectly!!
"A unique landscape of moorland, woodland, valleys and farmland, shaped by people and nature over thousands of years. Where high cliffs plunge into the Bristol Channel, and cosy pubs and tearooms offer delicious local produce.
On Exmoor it is still possible to find tranquillity and peace as well as rediscover your sense of adventure; to catch a glimpse of wild red deer, be amazed by dark skies full of stars, and explore villages full of character"
For dog owners there is an abundance of walks allowing you to walk for miles over the moor with some starting from the car park across the road or within a short drive away.

Exford does have a bus service but being a very rural area it is not always handy for trips out so a car is really a necessity.
If transport is a problem we can offer a taxi service or even offer a few guided tours of the area for a reasonable fee.

Our village shop has now reopened after a major renovation and will be stocking all your immediate daily needs, including groceries, bread, milk, newspapers, postcards, etc., and a great range of small gifts. They are open from 7.30 am to 6 pm Mon-Sat and 9.00 am - 12.30 Sun.
(Please note that we are very happy to put together a basket of provisions for you which will be here ready for your arrival – Let us know in advance and I will arrange this.)

The nearest fuel station/supermarket is approx. 5 miles away in Wheddon Cross on the road into the village from the Taunton / Minehead direction.

Directly across the green is the Exford Bridge Tea Rooms which is rightly renowned for their great breakfasts and light meals. The village also has a garage if your vehicle should require any attention during your stay.

Both the Inns have a large selection of local beers, wines, and ciders along with excellent food, both having either bar snacks and restaurant service. The White Horse Inn also offers a takeaway service if required

The village green, which is a dog-free zone, is directly opposite the apartment with about 2 acres of lush grass with a modern children's play area on the far side. There is a huge range of walks available to suit all ages and capabilities literally starting in the village or within a short drive
