This is not a place where you ask nature to change for you. We host guests here because this area is precious, and we would love you to experience that. This is the heart of one of the largest and last remaining primary tropical rainforests in the world. Here there are monkeys, birds, insects, turtle hatchlings, tapirs, pumas, mushrooms, and towering trees. There are also venomous snakes, spiders, and scorpions, and and it is not impossible that one could find its way into your room. They live here too, and we need to be careful not to hurt them or put them in a position where they hurt us. So this is a place for loving nature by slowing down to pay attention. If you do that, you will be surprised at the magic that can happen. I host guests because I want to provide space for that. If you want to party or are seeking an all-inclusive vacation. There are many eco-lodges nearby that are a good fit for that. I keep accommodations fairly rustic so that it's affordable for people from all walks of life. A few more things to know: -This is a great place to connect with the deep jungle without needing to enter the nearby national park. From our property and nearby walking trails, you can see a lot of wildlife, especially if you stay quiet and let the jungle come to you. -You'll have a private wood cabin with a balcony, as well as an open shared dining place, working, doing yoga, or watching the monkeys and hummingbirds. We have internet in certain areas; kitchen is not for Clients use, Our electricity is hydroelectric, so our power is limited; we don't have hot water or fans, and you can't plug in high-demand devices like hair dryers. -Playa Carate is close and beautiful. Swimming at the beach is not recommended due to riptides and sharks, however. There are nearby rivers and waterfalls for swimming. -Carrying a light when you walk around at night is important, so you don't step on a critter and squish it or get bitten. -It takes about 1.5 hours to get here from Puerto Jimenez by taxi, sometimes longer by bus. You should buy some snacks in PJ, since there aren't markets in this rural area.
