The area is filled with cultural landmarks such as the sacred Rygoku "Kokugikan" — Sumo Hall— renown for sumo wrestlers and martial artists, Edo Tokyo Museum which displays the history and culture of Edo/Tokyo in the massive space, Katsushika Hokusai themed gallery (Sumida Hokusai Museum), and several sumo rooms.

Around town, you will see sumo wrestlers walking around.

Also, don't disregard the quality of food in Ryogoku. For starters, the "chanko-nabe" —a hot pot dish originally made for sumo wrestlers—is superb.
Nearby are 2 reasonably priced Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurants.
