A bright and cozy apartment style house with everything you need, located in District 1 right next to the famous Lunch Lady and city zoo in the heart of HCMC.
Walkable distance from the Vietnamese History Museum, Saigon Zoo and the famous Lunch Lady. A short taxi or scooter ride away from most major tourist points. Centrally located enough so you can get everywhere quickly, but outside of the zones you'd typically find backpackers/tourists.

The neighborhood (Da Kao ward in District 1) is just on the quieter side of the more chaotic areas of HCMC, but it's still in District 1 and is centrally located enough that you're only a short cab ride away from almost anything you'd want to see.

Perfect for those looking for a slightly more local ambiance who still want easy access to the tourist attractions and busier areas. Very near (3 minutes walk) to the Lunch Lady made famous by late Anthony Bourdain. Multiple eateries and coffee shops within walking distance, including higher end and lower end options.

Also walking distance from both Japanese areas of HCMC (the Le Thanh Ton area is 15/20 minutes walk and the new up and coming Japanese area in Binh Thanh is 10 minutes walk) - both areas have Japanese eateries and bars as well as Western options.

Public transportation can be tricky for non locals to navigate in HCMC - luckily, both taxis and ride sharing are cheap and very popular, so you should have little trouble getting around. If you're brave you could also try renting a scooter/motorbike - you should be able to find where to do this online, however we don't recommend it as driving in HCMC can be very challenging for those not used to the "unique" driving culture around here.

For taxis, we strongly recommend that you stick to the Vinasun Taxi and Mai Linh Taxi companies. These are the most reliable, and the drivers are very unlikely to try to scam you either by not turning on the meter or by taking you on a longer route.

Vinasun Taxis have the number "xxx" on them, and Mai Linh taxis have the number "xxx" on them. The (028) is Ho Chi Minh city code. You can search G'oogle images to see what the the taxis for these companies look like.

If you're more used to Ubers and ridesharing, you'll want to download Grab, which is Asia's equivalent of Uber. You can use Grab to get cars or bikes (if you're travelling solo). Typically, Grab bikes will be substantially cheaper than Taxis, and Grab cars will be slightly cheaper than Taxis. This is our preferred method of getting around the city when we're not driving.
