' Typically Straits Electric, a row of houses built with wealth from rubber vied with the equally grand homes appearing elsewhere in Malacca at the time.The architecture of these buildings unabashedly mixed the vocabularies of east and west, their builders and artisans combining typically Chinese motifs with the language of the European classical orders, gilded screens with imported Art Nouveau tiles.Inside and out, inventiveness reigned.'
This shophouse unit is one of them. ,originally built in 1914 and is one of the preserved buildings which is located at Jalan Bukit Cina (a street filled with classic colonial residences). Just about a stone's throw away to Little India Street, Malacca River, Sultan well and about 10 minutes walk to the historical areas such as Stadhuys, A'Famosa, St. Paul's Hill, China Town, and hustle bustle of the famous Jonker Street and many other famous museums.
It is a reconfigured space in a stand alone 3 storeys prewar building.
Original wooden beams on the ceiling, fusion of old antique wall, courtyard, and original wooden floor inviting you to experience the modern to the local influence of Peranakan heritage era.
The goal in undertaking the building's reconstruction works was to both restore and preserve the building 's original distinctive facade while adding a touch of modern comfort such as air conditioning and glass partition to make the space cosier and more inviting. The entire project was a labour of love that took a few years to carefully reconstruct and complete.
When you enter the door entrance ( guest entrance will be shared among the cafe's customer & our guests) on the ground floor, you will see a private wide wooden staircases leading up to the 1st floor,our guest's space. ( Entire 1st floor is only for your group, not sharing with others ).
1st floor is an open plan space with high ceiling, wooden flooring and a walk way . There is a living room with a 6-7 seaters dining table, sofa, fridge, TV, microwave, basic tablewares , free flow of drinking water throughout your stay, 2 units of aircon, 2 ceiling fans, some books , rattan rocking chair etc.
There are 2 bedrooms on 1st floor :
☑︎Green bedroom- 2 queen size beds with mattress & pillows protectors on top of the wooden bed frame, glass wall with blocked out curtains, rattan chairs and a table, 2 units of aircon, a ceiling fan, hair dryer etc. This room is facing the local street and it is just next to the living room.
☑︎Oriental bedroom- 2 queen size beds with mattress & pillows protectors on top of the wooden bed frame, glass wall with blocked out curtains, chairs and a table, 2 units of aircon, a ceiling fan, hair dryer etc. This room is facing the inner courtyard & it is the nearest room to the open air bathrooms.
The 3 open air bathrooms & laundry room are located at the rear end of the building. Fresh linens and fluffy towels are provided too.

✦ Linens change over for every stay is mandatory in our listings. We use professional laundry services. Not only linens, , but also the sofas, tables, and floors will be wiped with cleaning products for every stay for the comfortability of our guest.

Guest will has their own private staircase to access to the 1st floor. Entire 1st floor is all exclusive for you & your group only, not sharing with downstairs cafe's customer.
