Opened in May 2015, this environmentally sustainable guesthouse is located in the modern, eco-friendly Hunziker-Areal in the northern part of Zurich, a 5-minute walk from the fairgrounds and the indoor stadium. Each room at the Gästehaus Hunziker features a tablet PC for free use, free WiFi access, wooden floors, and a private bathroom. From Monday to Fridays breakfast is served in the Restaurant Riedbach on the ground floor. At weekends, breakfast is served at the Restaurant Bagel Boys next door. Rainwater is collected and used for flushing the toilets. Heat pumps use waste heat from a nearby data processing centre for heating and warm water. The solar panels on the roof cover around 40% of the guesthouse’s electricity use. Energy-efficient LED lighting is used as well.
